4Good item but shop around
By Freespirit
This is an ideal incubator for someone starting off a hobby. It is very small and will take up to 7 eggs. If youa re a little more serious about raising chickens, then I would recommend you purchase a larger incumbator. This one really is aimed at someone who wants 2 or 3 chickens or if you want your kids to get involved. Think 'entry level'. If your eggs don't hatch, it may not be the incubator, but mother nature! Egg hatching is a risky business and you really need to do your homework in realtion to ideal temperatures and humidity. The Brinsea company are one of the top producers of egg incumbators and are always on hand to offer advice.I can aympathise with the other reviewer who had problems but it really does pay to research who is actually 'supplying' the incubator. If it is not a reputable dealer or the company themselves, then proceed with caution. I purchased what I thought was a really good british made incubator for 54 eggs - all the sales literature supported it being 'british' - but it actually was made in China. It is not well made and fails to maintain a consistent temperature despite claims. I wish I had paid the 'eggstra' and purchased from Brinsea.

1Defective item, rubbish customer service, not happy
By 12345678
My daughter decided to hatch some turkey eggs and bought an incubator, eggs, heat lamp etc... for this project with her own money. We did as intructed with the incubator and found that during the first night that it was used it had switched off, tripped the local electrical circuit and the plug to the appliance was very hot. We contacted the company and got no response for over a week. We sought advise from the egg supplier who were very helpful, did as they suggested with the eggs, then managed to borrow an incubator and seem to have saved the eggs (they have an other week to go but are developing nicely) All whilst no response from Brinsea. They then replied saying if we returned it to them they would test it, and had we used a circuit breaker? I told them I would like a refund or a working incubator, and have had no response since. This is not a second hand couple of pounds item it was new and £50! This is since the end of April (a month) Not what I would expect from a company on Amazon at all.

5100% successful
By June Wiltshire
I am very new to incubating eggs so I would have been happy with a couple of eggs hatching but I had 100% success 6 out of 6 Silkie eggs hatched and the chicks are doing well, Its important to get the egg turning right so I made a chart and ticked it with every turn of the eggs, humidity is also important so check the water levels daily, it works, great little machine but read the instructions carefully.
