This motor-pumped steam generator is better than a traditional steam iron
By Nicholas Sales
We received a previous incarnation of this product as a wedding present 8 years ago, and it did excellent service until a month ago when the element kicked the bucket. Bosch were unable to fix it, but recommended this Steam Generator Iron as the closest equivalent.Having bought another Bosch Steam Iron (but NOT a "steam generator") as an emergency backup after the old one blew up, I reviewed the backup (Bosch TDA5620GB Sensixx Comfort Power 11 Iron Black), which was very good, but drinks water like nobody's business. So I was glad when the TDS1135GB turned up, as I was hoping that it would be as frugal with water as its recently deceased relative was. And the good news is that it is even better. I'll explain why in the features below.- On-demand pumped steamUnlike normal steam irons, this product produces steam only when you touch (it is a feather touch) the steam button under the handle. This means you're not producing loads of steam except when you need it, and once you get used to it (in 2-3 minutes) you are likely to find it much more convenient that traditional steam irons, because it's both on-demand, and reliable - there's no waiting for steam to come out, it just comes out instantly- Adjustable steam flowThe pumped steam flow can be adjusted from off, to low all the way to maximum using a continuously variable thumb-wheel (i.e. it doesn't just have a couple of settings), so light cotton shirts can get a light steaming, while thicker heavy cotton under-sheets get as much steam as you need- Controllable water usageAs it only steams when you press the pump button, and you can adjust the steam flow, you can manage your water usage. I get through a 2 week pile with a couple of refills, compared to 5 for the other iron I reviewed (see above).- All other normal features as standardLike other steam irons, this one has water spray, shot of steam (which produces a *huge* cloud of steam, and I haven't yet found the need for it), auto shut-off and anti-drip.The product is slightly heavy, but this helps with pressing out the creases with less effort. It also has a ceramic/aluminium sole-plate, which I wasn't convinced about, but it seems to be more slippery than the previous stainless steel one that I had, and it's difficult to find stainless steel sole-plates now, as the consensus seems to be that coated aluminium is better. It is relatively expensive compared to cheap steam irons, but the improvement in usability and the reduction in ironing time that you get from it, because of its always-ready steam are worth it for me.This steam generator iron gets five stars, and a recommendation to buy if cost is not your only criterion.

Bosch TDS1135gb steam generator iron
By lou
I've found this iron very disappointing given the quality of the other Bosch goods I have. There is no steam on any of the settings, only steam from the additional generator button under the handle. When using steam, the water runs out really quickly, and the hottest setting is lower than other max heat settings on previous irons. Overall I wouldn't recommend this iron, and wouldn't buy another one. Expensive for what it is.

Makes ironing a pleasure!
By Joanna
Excellent value for money. This is my second, and it's even better - I bought the first generation of this iron about 9-10 years ago and after much abuse(as you do) it sadly died. I couldn't find anything to better it, for any money. It truely glides through the week's basket.
