Well pleased
By Harvey Logan
I've always been wary of carrying bikes on the outside of cars, preferring to suffer the inconvenience of dropping out the front wheels and sliding them in through the hatch. However, this was not an option with my latest vehicle and a friend recommended a Thule model similar to this. I found a video clip on You Tube showing it being put through its paces with a couple of bikes, and I decided to take the plunge. The carrier came almost fully assembled: I had to bolt in the upright supporting bar, but the instructions (entirely pictorial) were very clear. It can be attached securely to the towball singlehandedly in a less than a minute, and then locked in place with the integrated lock (two keys supplied). The same key allows the "outer" bike to be locked in place, and this prevents the "inner" bike being removed. The trickiest part of the operation is threading the plastic straps through the wheels without catching the back of your hand on the oily chain. I've used it a few times now over quite long distances, and on some bumpy roads, and not noticed any problems. My original intent was to go for a model without the rigid securing arms, at about half the price, but I'm happy that I spent the extra and went for something which appears so well-designed.

Impressed!
By G
The rack arrived within a few days of placing my order and was well packaged. Some limited assembly needed but easy enough to do. It takes literally seconds to attach to the towbar and was rock solid, the bikes were also very secure. I wondered if I would need a cross bar attachment for a ladies bike but it secured my wife's bike with no problem, you just need to manoeuvre the top bar around the upright frame to get it to fit. The carrier has 2 locks on it which seem secure but i also attached a wire & padlock around both bikes and the carrier and had no worries about leaving the bikes secured to it whilst we were away from the car. When not in use it took seconds to detach and fitted easily into my car boot (A6). It generated lots of admiring interest from other cyclists, and i started to wonder if i should be asking for commission!! Overall an excellent product, my wife always hated having the bikes on a roof rack, this is so easy the bikes will be coming away on hols with us again!
