QNAP NAS Review

I bought this NAS to store all my blu-rays and audio CDs on in flac format, and I use it in conjunction with a QNAP NMP 1000P and the set up works fine streaming flac audio and 5.1 HD blu ray disks to my sound system. It all works extremely well as expected but there are a few things to watch out for.1. Before you buy any hard drives, check the QNAP compatibility list and and user experiences; if you don't you could make a very expensive mistake. I am using Hitachi 5K3000 hard drives.2. Make sure your network is sound for streaming and avoid using router switches.3. I am using RAID 6, so I am only at risk of losing data if more than 2 drives fail.I like it, it has more features than you will probably ever need and the Amazon price was the best.

I was given one of these Eagle Creek cargo bags as a young man by my step dad - and being the usual sullen, ungrateful twenty something at the time my initial thoughts were: 'A bag? Why on earth would I want with a bag?'However, it soon turned out to be indispensable and I ended up absolutely loving it!The bag itself claims to be bomb proof - now I've never tested that claim and I very much doubt that its true - but they are pretty sturdy. In fact they're so sturdy Eagle Creek are willing to put their money where their mouth is and offer you a lifetime guarantee - more on that later.The bag I have is the perfect size for light travel and weekends away, with plenty of room to fit, say, about a weeks worth of clothes in the main compartment. It's not too big and not too small, but just the right size. It also has a side pocket on the, er... side.The 2 main handles have a leather grip that fastens together with 2 poppers and there's a shoulder strap too. Best of all though, there's 2 compression straps running across the top of the bag so you can pack the bag and really squeeze everything down nice and tightly to a minimum size, making the bag nice and compact.The shoulder strap can be passed under the compression straps too, so the bag can be slung over your shoulder more in the style of the old, long, tubular, military kit bags. The zipper has 2 zips so that closing the bag is easy even when its tough, and all in all I'm very satisfied with it. The zippers two are thick and sturdy. There's no way these are going to break.15 years on I still have a use my bag and I still love everything about it. Great Purchase

This was a fantastic purchase. It fits my iPad 2, my iPod and my wife's iPhone 4. The sound quality is excellent and is more than capable of outwoofing our old technics stereo system. The Fidelio app works really well and despite the price this was well worth the money. If only the iPad had a side docking station then this could double as a fantastic tv/movie stand as well.

Philips hits the right note.

This was my second attempt to purchase a Philips docking speaker for my new toy - the iPad2, and I'm really pleased with this model.I checked the Philips website, but found their method of describing which of their products was compatible with which iPad was quite difficult to translate.A quick phone call to their (excellent) customer support sorted this out, and resulted in me purchasing this speaker dock.Very simple to use, easy-to-use-docking, and superb sound.Fairly pricy for what it is, but then you get what you pay for.The docking speaker is a good size - not too big - and can be moved around the house if required.The only downfall - when friends come over, their iPhones, iPods and iPads fit it too, so I don't always get my own choice of music!Well done Philips.

Apologies to the neighbours!

This is actually my wife's "toy", but she's clearly delighted with it. The sound quality is superb and the volume more than we'll ever need. It also incorporates easy access to a wide range of UK and foreign online radio stations; I'm not sure about the details as my wife generally sets it up, but as I'm trying to learn Turkish it's great to be able to switch to a number of Turkish stations and sit there pretending I can understand a word of what's being said.

Great performance for a fair price

I bought the Buffalo MiniStation 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Disk Drive - White and it is really fast, the turbo copy allow me to transfer files from my computer to the HDD in seconds. I wouldn't say it is cheap but it is well worth the money and very portable.I have to mention though that the light on mine is not as in the picture, blue, but it is green and that is not mentioned on the description. It still gets my 5 starts and I'm even thinking of buying a second one.

Superb !!!

All i can say is what stunning well performing clubs.I had these as an anniversary present from my wife to replace my over used clubs. These have easily put an extra 20yds on my swing and accuracy that i never knew i had. I play atleast 18 holes a week and the guys i go round with are speechless. They have hit some shots with mine and can't believe how good they feel and how well they perform.It seems their £700+ iron sets are going to the back of the garage to make way for their set of 685x Snake Eyes Irons. A fantastic price too.I will now be looking at the Snake Eyes Driver to hopefully repeat the improvement in distance and accuracy these irons have made to my game.Well done Snake Eyes!!!

If you have a lot of data to back up a drive from this range is the one to have. It is expensive for the capacity compared to 2 disk systems but it offers several advantages over them. I bought it to replace a WD MyBook Studio which is a RAID 0, two drive system, connected via an eSATA link which took 12 hours to back up 1.2TB of image files (97,000). The DriveStation has four disks in RAID 5 mode and is connected over a USB3 link. I reconfigured the drive to RAID 0 and backup now takes less than 4 hours! If you have been using a single or twin drive backup system, as I have, you will not have had RAID 5 available anyway. RAID 5 is only useful if you have 'mission critical' data that cannot be recovered from anywhere else. The RAID 5 allows the data to be recovered if a drive fails however, backing up is slower and reduces backup space by about 25%The speed advantage was not immediately apparent because I missed 3 important points:1. The USB 3 cable supplied is only 1m long so I used an extension cable which turned out to be a standard USB 2 - all USB cables are not the same!2. My PC did not indicate which of the USB ports were USB 3 and I had to refer to the motherboard manual - USB 2 is 10x slower! (USB 2 took 22 hours!)3. RAID 5 was not needed so the DriveStation was reconfigured to RAID 0 in about 10 minutes using the supplied software - although there is no error recovery in this mode, it is much faster and you don't lose 25% of the drive space.

Optishot Golf Simulator

I purchased this a few months ago from Amazon after testing this at the UK Optishot venue at the Lee Westwood Academy and must say it's brilliant. I play off a handicap of 15 and wanted to improve my game & stop going out down the driving range midweek. I spent all summer on an outdoor building project to house this to try and get the full potential of this unit. I must admit after all the hard work now it is all up and running it is an utterly brilliant piece of kit, however to get the best out of it you need to spend quite a lot of money. Firstly the PC you use needs really 3GB of RAM minimum and at least a 3ghz processor (a dual core or core i3 is better, however it does run fine on a P4) & a decent graphics card with at least 512MB of in built memory & open GL is a must. Lighting is vital on this product and 4watt white LED GU10 over the mat works brilliantly, normal lighting affects miss reads on the sensor. I have also mounted my Optishot launch pad into a full size driving range mat again works really well. My walls are all covered in black fabric as well as the roof and the image is projected onto an impact screen via a projector. It hosts a driving range and 11 great courses and the reading from this are brilliant, the other thing that seems to work better are the almost golf balls you can buy on Amazon, they are superior to the ones that come with this unit and only £10 a pack. I had some technical questions after I purchased this and contacted Dancin Dogg in the states for help & their customer service matched their product, brilliant very helpful and replied within a few hours.Great Product and worth every penny.

The opti shot is really good for its price. Its a really good simulator, and definitely accurate enough to help you with your game. Also its great fun with friends. Its important to set it up right, with the right lighting and to adjust the settings to suit your clubs. Overall I'd thoroughly recommend getting one if you've got the space.

Caring for your cutlery

Handwashing: It's still the best way to treat your cutlery. But be gentle: avoid scouring pads and bleach detergents. Wash and softly dry straightaway, avoiding prolonged soaking because this can cause unsightly watermarks.

Dishwashing: Go ahead. Use a gentle detergent and rinse agent. Take your cutlery out soon after the rinse cycle ends, then polish with a soft cloth if you want to maintain the natural sheen for longer.

Removing marks: 'Stainless' means stain-resistant rather than that it won't stain at all. If you find any stubborn marks, try using a soapy cloth - and if that doesn't work, some good quality stainless steel should do the trick.

Really nice set! I love them! A little smaller than I expected but perfect for what I wanted! The cutlery is a good shape and weight and are lasting well! A bit of a pain that they cannot go in the dishwasher but that was expected!

This is a top notch technical pack, great ergonomic design and very high quality. I bought this pack for travel in the hot Australian summer, the aeroflex system keeps the pack away from your back allowing greater comfort and airflow to keep you cool. The shoulder straps are fully adjustable so this pack can be made to fit most people between 5ft to 7ft tall.Definitely the most comfortable pack I've ever had for carrying over 20 pounds of gear and supplies, it comes with a rain cover and a handy compass/thermometer/whistle. It is hydration pack compatible but there is no hydro pack included. Aside from the main compartment there are two large pockets in the lid, 2 small pockets on the hip belt and 3 stretch pockets on the outside of the pack (some packs have way too many pockets). It's not too bulky for everyday use and still big enough for a week of camping and hiking.

A little 'neater' than my same size Nike trainers. If re-ordering, I'd choose another half size bigger. The open mesh top was unexpected (didn't spot it in the illustration) and I prefer the plain, fabric panel as on the Nike ones. Otherwise, ok and pretty well priced. As always in my experience, Amazon delivered in record time.

New Balance 860 - Very good pair of shoes for flat-footed runners

I purchased New Balance 860 recently since I'm flat-footed. I have been running for almost 5 months now and I had started developing muscle catch and spasm at my lower limbs. However, after I have started using this pair of shoes, it's been perfectly fine. Landing is extremely light and balanced while running with NB 860. I would say this is a very good purchase for the price that Amazon offers.

Bought this item as a Christmas present. Have to say although happy with the item I was disappointed with no instuctions of the item. It would have been helpful if a discription was in the set ie: the make of the product and dishwasher instructions. I feel it really made the item look cheap with no slip of paper indicating where it was from etc.

This canteen was a wedding gift and what a lovely choice. The pieces are well made and a nice modern design. Being in a canteen makes it a lovely keepsake for special occasions, but we've been using it everyday.

I was given one of these Eagle Creek cargo bags as a young man by my step dad - and being the usual sullen, ungrateful twenty something at the time my initial thoughts were: 'A bag? Why on earth would I want with a bag?'However, it soon turned out to be indispensable and I ended up absolutely loving it!The bag itself claims to be bomb proof - now I've never tested that claim and I very much doubt that its true - but they are pretty sturdy. In fact they're so sturdy Eagle Creek are willing to put their money where their mouth is and offer you a lifetime guarantee - more on that later.The bag I have is the perfect size for light travel and weekends away, with plenty of room to fit, say, about a weeks worth of clothes in the main compartment. It's not too big and not too small, but just the right size. It also has a side pocket on the, er... side.The 2 main handles have a leather grip that fastens together with 2 poppers and there's a shoulder strap too. Best of all though, there's 2 compression straps running across the top of the bag so you can pack the bag and really squeeze everything down nice and tightly to a minimum size, making the bag nice and compact.The shoulder strap can be passed under the compression straps too, so the bag can be slung over your shoulder more in the style of the old, long, tubular, military kit bags. The zipper has 2 zips so that closing the bag is easy even when its tough, and all in all I'm very satisfied with it. The zippers two are thick and sturdy. There's no way these are going to break.15 years on I still have a use my bag and I still love everything about it. Its size, its look, its practicality - Its just as shame it developed a mystery hole. To this day I still have no idea when or why it happened. Even so, I still thoroughly recommend this product. 'But if it developed a hole, why recommend it?!' I hear you say. Well, remember the guarantee I told you about?Eagle Creek bags claim to be amongst the toughest in the world - and because of this, they come with a very special 'No Matter What' lifetime guarantee. It's really true and they really mean it. Check their website. 'No Matter What' they'll fix it. A faith which I now share 100%, and that is why I'd recommend an Eagle Creek duffel bag or cargo bag to anyone anywhere. Especially is they're looking for a bag to last them a lifetime. 10/10 or A+. And if you can think of any other ways to give something top marks or say 'amazing', that works for me too.*NOTE* The bag I have is exactly the same as this model but the size below. I doubt that makes any difference though.
