Excellent Buy

Bought for my mother after obtaining a 37" version for my wife. Very easy to set up the basics, which is probably enough for most viewers and basically works efficiently straight from the box. Picture quality is outstanding, sound very good and of course no messing around with set top boxes etc. for the switchover. Also Amazon delivered, free, at a very fast rate, making it an even better buy.

Impressive

Took a bit of a chance on this one, after much internet research, as the specification looked good. I don't think I could have chosen better, particularly in this price range (big saving & free delivery via Amazon really helped). Basic setup is very easy and good enough, I suspect, for the average viewer who wants to get it out of the box and be up and running in about 10 minutes. There are many items that you can meddle with via the menu, but why worry if you can plug and play to a high standard anyway. My wife is delighted with this one as it was really for her birthday and is very impressed with the picture, sound quality and ease of operation. So it is 5 stars from me and many thanks to the good people of Amazon who managed to get it here after just 3 days!

Very nice TV for the price

So I have had this tv for a few days now, I thought I would use it a bit before writing a review. The tv itself is very easy on the eye, sharp straight edges make it fit in with any half modern living room. The picture is very, very clear and when watching any high definition programs or films, you can see every blemish and impurity on the actors faces which is kind of refreshing :D The sound quality on this tv is very good, I have had the volume turned up pretty high for some gaming and noticed no degradation in sound quality, sound is also further improved if you turn on Clear Voice II. The tv picture is highly customisable and the levels of contrast and brightness are completely adequate for watching tv or playing games.I decided to play Grand Theft Auto 4 for a few hours to see how it handles games and it handles them well! The size of the screen makes it feel like you are almost in the game! Getting chased and shot at by cops in high definition game mode is lots of fun! I notived no tv lag when playing game whatsoever so you can rest easy. Onto the menu, it is very well laid out and easy to use. You can completely customise the tv in under 5 minutes to suit your needs, you can change the labels of each hdmi port so you know which one belongs to your dvd player, or games console, or satellite tv. You can turn the standby green light on and off by the settings if you wish. The tv comes with a handy 'quick menu' button so you can change the modes or major settings of the tv easily without having to faff around with the full menu.Well I am going to go back to blowing up some cop cars in GTA4, but before I go there is maybe 1 bad thing about this tv, its nothing too major but the tv is only 50hz which means that at 42" it can become quite noticeable when watching fast moving action, like the balls at Wimbledon or running in athletics. Don't get me wrong, it's not so bad that you can not watch it, but if you focus on it you can notice it. For me, it's more than fine.Thanks for reading!

Pretty good but few accessories

It works pretty well, the mount is felxible and the screen clear enough. The icons aren't as intuitive as I would like but while ym wife drove I messed with the settings and sussed it all out pretty quickly. The voice is a bit stop-start and some of the pronumciations odd. Finds sats pretty fast, plots routes and generally does everything you want it to. ALarms for excessive speed, speed cameras and red light cameras.I was annoyed there is no USB cable or mains PSU in the box, which meant the recommended eight hours original charge is practicallt impossible. Plus the instructions that come with it are slack, and the software is on DVD - I only have a CD drive on the PC. Hmmm.These are niggles though. We like it, liked the price and are generally pretty happy with it.

The initial 8 hour charge can only be achieved by driving for 8 hours or buying a sepArate home plug in charger. All works very easily though although some of the pronunciation is a little off. Very easy to operate and set up straight from the box. Buy a home charger as well.

The cheapest you'll likely find; but beware of quality control issues.

Having just received these shoes in UK size 10 (I ordered them yesterday), the first thing I remember checking about them were the heels. Now, it should be known to all potential buyers that Do-wins are made in the same Chinese factory and distributed by MuscleDriverUSA, which leads to some serious quality control issues. With that in mind, here are the pros and cons...Pros:The heel is SOLID. It will not (or barely) compress. Compared to the Adidas PowerLift trainers, which have a 0.6" heel made of compressible EVA, the Zhu Zais dominate. My size 10s have a 0.75" heel height relative to where the balls of the feet rest -- 0.75" is considered near-optimal for the olympic lifts and I think they're great for high-bar squats.Other pros: very secure strap (everything grey on these shoes are well-secured), and loads of breathable meshes in and around the shoe.Cons:A lot of people have complained about Do-wins on a whole range of things. One review site mentions "splitting of the wood heel, separation of the rubber sole from the heel, mis-aligned soles and *even* un-level heels"! This last point fazed me so much that I spent 10 minutes measuring the relative difference between the two, and it is only 1.5mm. I find this acceptable. I also see a single 3mm detachment of the rubber on the edge of my left shoe, but overall it looks and feels pretty damn stuck-on.So, with all of this in mind, another weightlifting shoe produced by Adidas *may* have a longer life span, and depending on the price, lesser or better specs. I'll be training at least 3x/week in these and will not allow myself to run or jump in them, which will compromise the integrity of the shoe. In fact, you should ONLY walk and lift when you've got them on (no plyos etc), and bring another pair of trainers for cardio or getting to the gym and back.Bottom line:I like these shoes; they look good and they look professional. Even the inside stitching is ok.Edit: it's been 5 months, and the functionality of the shoe is virtually (looks and feels) the same as if they were brand new. Definitely recommended for people who can't afford the bigger brands.

My first weightlifting shoe

This is only my first weightlifting shoe, so it's hard to recommend above other brands. I have used it for squatting rather than weightlifting, and I find it's very good. Reaching depth is a lot easier thanks to the raised heel, and this puts more emphasis on the quads during the squat. This took a little bit of getting used to, and at first I found myself leaning forward on the way up, but after a little practice my posture improved and so did the weight I am lifting.I have a high foot arch, so I found the shoes a little tight. I normally take 8-8.5 and I ordered size 9. One of my major concerns was that the shoes wouldn't fit, but I like the snug fit and they feel very stable to use, with hardly any roll to the inside or outside of the shoe. The only thing I'm not sure of is the soles, which get very slippery if exposed to any water, but I think most weightlifting shoes have similar rubber soles. There definitely hasn't been any issue with slipping on the rubber surface in my gym.

Good value laptop

I bought this laptop to replace my 3 year old Medion laptop and I have to say I'm really happy with it so far. The hard drive is large, with the 6GB of RAM and fast processer meaning it can handle multi-tasking some fairly resource intensive programs with ease. Windows 7 looks great too, although it really isn't much different to Vista to use. I'm not a fan of computer games but I saw on reviews on other sites that you would need a seperate graphics card to play. To test it I downloaded a couple of demos - COD 4 and NFSW - both played perfectly which may help some people.There are a couple of poor aspects, one being the extremely short battery life when multi-tasking, it doesn't bother me too much as I use it at home but may be an issue if you need to use on the move. Also it only has one speaker which is poor quality, again I use external speakers so not too big an issue.Can't give it 5/5 as it isn't perfect, but I always thought I would be buying a 4/5 laptop with this and didn't want to pay double the price for the extra star. Highly recommended.

Honestly the best value for money laptop out there - June 2011

I really did my homework on finding a good enough laptop for my usage, and this has far exceeded what I expected for under £500! (inc delivery)There is a review about the wireless internet being a problem, I can say that with this laptop it hasn't had a single problem once.I downloaded a few games to test out the graphics and the performance.The Windows Experience Index scores are:6.9 for both processor and ram.4.5 for graphics3.9 for gaming graphics5.9 for hard disk.The battery life is good, it was estimated to last around 3 hours with me really putting it through its paces with running multiple programs and sound, so battery life is not an issue. Had 50% left after around 1.5 - 2 hours before I plugged it back in.This computer switches between programs like no other laptop I have been on before. I ran football manager, the monopoly facebook game and youtube all at the same time and it still changed between them with no delays (very impressive in my eyes)Amazon delivered on time and the packaging was really neat.Good laptop, I would recommend it to anyone who wasn't looking for a laptop specifically for gaming with high graphics. It runs WoW and FM no problem.

Great shoes, but they run a bit short!

From reading about Do-Win shoes other places on the internet I had the impression they generally run large. I'm usually wearing 8.5 UK dress shoes (e.g. Loake) and about 9.0 UK sneaker size.I first ordered these in 8.5 and felt my big toe being pinched. They are a bit wide, but short. (The width didn't bother me, because it can be offset by tying the laces firmly and using the metatarsal straps.)Then I tried another order, this time 9.0, and while these also pinched a little bit, I went with them.I used them on my first workout. After walking in them for a while, it felt better, and squatting in them was quite pleasurable. All in all I'm happy with my purchase.

Excellent Buy

Bought for my mother after obtaining a 37" version for my wife. Very easy to set up the basics, which is probably enough for most viewers and basically works efficiently straight from the box. Picture quality is outstanding, sound very good and of course no messing around with set top boxes etc. for the switchover. Also Amazon delivered, free, at a very fast rate, making it an even better buy.

Impressive

Took a bit of a chance on this one, after much internet research, as the specification looked good. I don't think I could have chosen better, particularly in this price range (big saving & free delivery via Amazon really helped). Basic setup is very easy and good enough, I suspect, for the average viewer who wants to get it out of the box and be up and running in about 10 minutes. There are many items that you can meddle with via the menu, but why worry if you can plug and play to a high standard anyway. My wife is delighted with this one as it was really for her birthday and is very impressed with the picture, sound quality and ease of operation. So it is 5 stars from me and many thanks to the good people of Amazon who managed to get it here after just 3 days!

Very nice TV for the price

So I have had this tv for a few days now, I thought I would use it a bit before writing a review. The tv itself is very easy on the eye, sharp straight edges make it fit in with any half modern living room. The picture is very, very clear and when watching any high definition programs or films, you can see every blemish and impurity on the actors faces which is kind of refreshing :D The sound quality on this tv is very good, I have had the volume turned up pretty high for some gaming and noticed no degradation in sound quality, sound is also further improved if you turn on Clear Voice II. The tv picture is highly customisable and the levels of contrast and brightness are completely adequate for watching tv or playing games.I decided to play Grand Theft Auto 4 for a few hours to see how it handles games and it handles them well! The size of the screen makes it feel like you are almost in the game! Getting chased and shot at by cops in high definition game mode is lots of fun! I notived no tv lag when playing game whatsoever so you can rest easy. Onto the menu, it is very well laid out and easy to use. You can completely customise the tv in under 5 minutes to suit your needs, you can change the labels of each hdmi port so you know which one belongs to your dvd player, or games console, or satellite tv. You can turn the standby green light on and off by the settings if you wish. The tv comes with a handy 'quick menu' button so you can change the modes or major settings of the tv easily without having to faff around with the full menu.Well I am going to go back to blowing up some cop cars in GTA4, but before I go there is maybe 1 bad thing about this tv, its nothing too major but the tv is only 50hz which means that at 42" it can become quite noticeable when watching fast moving action, like the balls at Wimbledon or running in athletics. Don't get me wrong, it's not so bad that you can not watch it, but if you focus on it you can notice it. For me, it's more than fine.Thanks for reading!

excellent value for money...Acer quality

I had an old Acer laptop which no longer had the capacity to cope with the march of progress.....it had become a bit slow....nothing wrong with the computer....it was still as reliable as ever. I needed one with a bigger memory, a better processor and a bigger hard drive. i wanted something that was going to do me for a few years. This one certainly fitted the requirements. 6gb memory! 500gb hard drive.......far more than I need....and a very fast processor at a great price. Great srvice as always from Amazon with delivery. Turned it on and it workded straight away picking up the wifi and connecting to the internet without any difficulty. It is loaded with Microsoft 7 which is very good. The computer looks great, it is very fast and has more than sufficient capacity for just about all my needs for years. Great value....reliable Acer....full of high level features and at a great price.....I don't think I could have done better....I am not a computer geek, I wanted somnething that was easy to use and to understand......this is.... highly recommended....

Excellent for the average user

My folks old dell desktop was grinding to a halt after 8 years or so and it was deemed a laptop would be a suitable replacement. Picking through the many choices was a little daunting but I've had 3 Acer laptops over the years (a 17", a 14.1" and most recently a netbook) which have all provided stirling service and excellent value for money, so we chose to stick with Acer. Then you look at the Acer options, this model is a 5742 but there are multiple variations, some seem to be older than others. In the case of this one the Date first available at Amazon.co.uk is 4 April 2011 so it's from this season's range and as up to date as possible, I had looked at Acer Aspire 5742 15.6 inch Notebook ( Intel Core i3-370M, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD, DVD, Webcam, Wireless, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) - Black currently at the same price as this (but a higher RRP) but it appears to be last years model so less RAM and Hard disk space.So with model selected and delivered how does it stack up. Well, out of the box it looks pretty smart, it's easy to set up and you are running in just a few minutes. It comes with McAfee virus protection with a 2 month subscription, from past experience this can sap performance so time will tell if we stick with it or move back to AVG. This is my first go with a Windows 7 pc and the early signs are that performance is good. Of course the hard drive while in description as 320GB actually has 283GB of space of which 255 odd is free (I'm sure most people are used to these hard drive variences by now). The LED screen on these Acers really is pin sharp and a quick test of HD playback was pleasingly smooth (from past experience this has provided a good test for screen and processor). The keyboard for me takes a bit of getting used to as it has a Numpad tagged on the end but that tends to be the way, all laptops seem to have slightly differnt layout. Battery life looks to be about 4 hours dependant on usage at present, time will tell if that is realistic.Early days but very happy so far, will update with anything of use as and when

Delighted

This is the second Acer I've bought in as many months. The first one for myself and I was so pleased with it, I bought a second for my wife who is a computer novice. She is now up and running, carrying out all the basic tasks necessary. She is used to typing and finds the keyboard perfect. The screen is very clear, battery life is good and longer than quoted, overall delighted with this product and I have no reservations in recommending it to all.

Superb LG quality at a reasonable price

I Bought one of these T.V's as I have had various LG goods in the past without any complaints and again I have not been disappointed. The T.V is of excellent build and picture quality and is being sold at a reasonable price (the same T.V is on sale in a certain leading supermarket for £309). I would highly recommend this model and make to anyone whom is after a basic HD ready TV. The only niggle that i had with the T.V is that the operator manual is very basic and relies heavily on a small amount of picture diagrams.

Just got this tv delivered the other day (prompt delivery service)Goto say I'm well impressed with its picture quality absolutely stunning IMO so much better than my 4yr old 32" Samsung.If anyone's thinking of getting this model for gaming it does the job perfectly I've been using it for battlefield & cod on the 360 & its quality, No motion blur & no control input lag..........Great buy!

Great value for money

Fantastic picture for both SD and HD. Pleasantly surprised that the sound quality was also very good. Very easy to set-up. I love the graphic menu for the inputs (what a revolutionary concept to have a visual guide as to which inputs are active!) I recommend using an HDMI cable to connect to a cable box as the picture quality with a scart cable is poor at best.

Great value for money

Absolute Bargain. The spec of this laptop is very impressive, i had seen laptops with half the RAM and HDD for much more. I even found an exact match in terms of motherboard and model but with 140gb less HDD and 3gb less ram for £129 more.Laptop arrived quickly, was very easy to set up - all drivers are pre-installed so it was just a case of switching on and connecting to internet. I installed a few applications such as iTunes and all of these were very quick to download and install - id go as far as to say if i had faster internet they would have been quicker still - i base that on the apps i sinstalled from disk taking literally seconds to install.The only slight critisism i can make is the feel of it seems plasticy and cheap(ish) - it has a carbon fibre look that is quite nice but the feel of it isnt so nice - but then again its hard to find a good quality build electrical product these days.The screen is great - really good size (can easily watch a film on this) and great colour quality.I have given this 5 stars as despite the feel being a bit cheap the actual high performance laptop is also CHEAP.Once again a Bargain.

I've been searching for a new laptop, and wanted to go for something different.. when I saw the memory and the price of this laptop I thought it was amazing! and after reading the reviews I decided to buy one. I'm pleased to say I'm very happy. The laptop is so fast, internet loads up in seconds, doesn't overheat at all like my last laptop and it was easy to set up, the battery life is also incredible. Definitely recommend!

Top machine, good price

Had a 5742Z with pentium processor, 4Gb RAM and 500Gb drive for about 4 months now. Can't fault it, it is quite light, the screen is excellent, keyboard feels nice, performance is very good. Delivery from Amazon was very quick, set up was totally straightforward, though I would recommend removal of most of the OEM trial software, but that is true across all manufacturers. Wouldn't mind an extra USB port or two on the back. I don't use it on battery very often but it seems good for well over two hours, though this will deteriorate over time.All in, an excellent vfm machine, and build quality is excellent despite what some negative reviews say (be aware some negative Acer reviews are spammed across several products and do not refer to the products they are listed under, but products several years old and should be ignored), in fact sturdier than the last few Dell laptops I have had. Acer will certainly be near the top of my list in a couple of years when it comes up for replacement
