Product Description

ITX7-2 is a 100% aluminum housing. Complete with an ultra slim slot-loading optical drive mounting it will also accept a standard 3.5 inch HDD too. With the ability to accept a standard sized mini ITX motherboard, the potential to build a machine with an ultra low-powered Intel Atom CPU system up to a high performance Intel i5 powerhouse is incredible.

Although it belongs to the mini ITX series, the ITX7-2 case offers a potentially power packed machine in an incredibly small case.

4Great Case - Small but not too small
By ploppythekangaroo
I paid £109.99 + £5.61 shipping (Jan 2012). NOTE: This is actually a Wesena Mini ITX7-2 Case.Firstly, the order was turned around very quickly by Wesnea UK (Trader Systems Ltd) - order on a Tuesday and turned up on the Thursday. This case is built to last. It's constructed of thick aluminum - three pieces for the base section and a single piece for the lid. The power switch is good - all case edges etc are well cut and finished. There is a IR sensor port on the front of the case ready for a (separately purchased) IR sensor to be installed behind. The IR port is adjacent to two USB 2 ports and a multi-card reader (not tested this yet).Internally, the case includes a quiet fan (with Molex and MB connectors - no speed control). Also a circuit board for the card reader and USB ports on the front. There is also a cross-brace that is used for mounting the ODD, the 2.5" and 3.5" drives - this is easy to fit although is you get a CPU with a fan, the under-slung 3.5" HDD may get a little close. I used the Asus E35M1-I DELUXE Zacate Motherboard which fitted the case perfectly and has no fan.The case also includes an expansion card slot which will be useful when I eventually get a tuner card. One of the nice features of the case is the disc slot in the front which means no slide out trays - this looks really good. However, the eject button off-right centered and positioned specifically for a Sony BC-5640H Slot Loading Slim Blu-Ray Combo (about £85 from Scan - don't forget to buy the requisite Akasa AK-CB050 SATA cable for Slimline Opticals as the ODD does not have a standard Sata power connector) which fits perfectly. Alternatively, you can get a MUCH cheaper slot loading DVD drive (The Wesena web site recommends which one to get). This may not suit everyone, but the eject button is not essential as you can always eject discs from within the software. The only slight problem I have with the case is that it doesn't come with a PSU. It has a hole cut in the rear ready for the connection of a 12V power adapter. You will need to buy a special PSU card and separate 12V adapter (common for this type of ITX board and case). I went for the Mini-box picoPSU-120 with a paired 120W power adapter - I got this from ebay (not available on Amazon) from fullspeedit who are an approved Mini-box supplier for £60. You will also need to buy a StarTech.com 6" 20 pin ATX Power Supply to 24 pin Motherboard Adapter (only a few quid) as the PicoPSU circuit board will clash with the cross-brace as it sticks up a bit.Pros:- Great build quality.- Can fit a 3.5" HDD AND a 2.5" SSD in the case at the same time. SSD for OS, HDD for movies etc.- Comes with all the screws needed to fix the drives in place.- Uses a slot loading optical disc drive (ODD) so looks good - no slide out tray. Also see cons below.- The included Fan is reasonably quiet.- Expansion card slot.- Ultimately is a very compact and good looking case - even my wife likes it!Cons:- Cost - it is at the higher end of the price range. Also slightly cheaper direct from Wesena UK web site. Still worth it in my opinion due build good build quality and looks.- Not provided with a PSU.- Not provided with instructions. However, these can be downloaded from the Wesena UK website.- Product specific slot load button. If your budget can stretch, I highly recommend this case.It would have got 5* except I had to spend another £60 for an additional PSU - most similar case come with one included.
