Very nice hoodie, but strange sizing - typical Adidas :(

This is a lovely and well-made hoodie (I have just received it so cannot comment on durability, but I have read reviews that say it washes well and keeps its colour). Nice colours, great cut and huge, deep kangaroo pocket, understated small logo, and a medium weight fabric.However, I must emphasize that Adidas items run very small, and what's worse, are not even sized consistently within the brand. I tried the new model longline hoodie with the large logo on the chest at their store, and that one comes out longer, a bit wider and seems to have a slightly thicker, bulkier fabric. That model should be ordered one size up if you like it a bit loose and/or have big shoulders, as they are a tight, somewhat restricting, fit around the arms and shoulders unfortunately.Whereas *this* model (last year's I think as they are now hard to find) just comes out *very* small and short.I generally wear size 10-12 in tops, more often 12 I suppose. I wanted the hoodie to be not too tight-fitting, but also not completely baggy and shapeless, just in between I suppose. I thought going up one size, i.e. to UK 14/D 40 would be about right, but I ended up buying 16/42 as that was the only size left in the blue colour I wanted.Turns out 16/42 is only just big enough for my size 12ish frame. It is spot on width-wise (loose but certainly not very baggy considering it's a 16! Underarm to underarm 51.5cm). And where length is concerned, it's on the short side for a longline (I'm just under 5'7 and it only just covers my bum, not really quite long enough to be worn as a 'dress'). The sleeves are only just long enough and would benefit from a bit more length (given that I have longish arms and like *long* sleeves).I would recommend this as long as you- are not particularly tall/want to wear it like a dress, and- order 1-2 sizes up (depending on desired fit: 1 size up for fitted and 2 for loose).Hope this helps people choose the right size and avoid returns, as I was agonising over what to buy for ages.
