Quiet, but USB 2.0 only.

I bought a similar Samsung model from another supplier very recently with 750 Gbytes storage. Mine is described as a 750 Gbyte USB 2.0 device, though the instruction manual refers to a USB 3.0 interface, and a USB 3.0 cable. This is definitely USB 2.0, with a conventional USB cable.It seems that Samsung is updating its range, and it is likely that future models will be USB 3.0.Compared with the Toshiba E05A100SBU3EW_C STOR.E ART 4 1TB USB 3.0 2.5 inch Hard Drive - Black I bought recently for backup and music storage purposes, this one is much quieter, as I'd hoped, and doesn't raise the noise levels of my iMac significantly. I don't know whether the USB 3.0 models will be as quiet, or indeed why the Toshiba one is noisier. First impressions are that it is slower than the Toshiba, though I think it still did the complete Time Machine backup of my machine in around 9 hours. The comparison is on USB 2.0.The machine comes configured in NTFS format, and this is only readable on Mac OS X - not writeable. PC users should not have a problem with this.Mac users may wish to reformat to one of the Apple formats.FAT is also an option, though not a particularly good one if large files are to be copied and stored. If Mac users wish to retain the NTFS format for compatibility with other systems there is a software driver which can be downloaded from the Samsung site, and once installed this allows Mac machines to use the drive for reading and writing using the pre-configured file system.If you don't need USB 3.0 now, or anticipate needing it in the next year or so, then USB 2.0 drives are still available, and may work out cheaper, and possibly also quieter. For example, drives similar to this Toshiba 1TB 2.5 inch External StorE Art HDD are, in my experience, likely to be quieter than the USB 3.0 version mentioned already.For high speed use it's not absolutely clear what technologies will emerge as the leaders. Firewire does not now seem to have such an advantage, and devices with Firewire or other interfaces are generally priced higher, such as LaCie Rugged XL 1TB Hard Disk. There is now a Thunderbolt drive from La Cie, which offers up to 10 Gbps transfers, but as yet Amazon do not supply this.

Garden blitzkrieg for all the family

I bought this from Modelzone at the reduced price and would highly recommend it. As with all Heng Long tanks it takes a bit of getting used to and 'wearing in', they can be a bit twitchy but are easy and fun to fix . The Jagdpanther itself is excellent, well made and realistic, it comes in the camo colour not German grey (which is authentic as Jagdpanthers never were grey) If you are model minded then this is where these kits really shine, with endless scope for upgrades, repainting and customization.Overall a lot for your money with great potential for upgrading, and a lot of fun! These kits can be what you want them to be; a serious and authentic modelling project for the adult, or a fun toy to rampage across the garden with!

Product Description

The All Pond Solutions 1000EF+ utilises a multi-stage approach to filtration and comes complete with a built 9w UV. Filtering aquarium tank water through three (3) internal layered baskets filled with assorted filter media material it provides extremely thorough biological, mechanical and chemical filtration.

Each External Filter in our range operates exactly the same way as our Internal Powerhead Filters but are designed to be positioned outside of your tank. Each unit draws water into the filter through an inlet tube and returns crystal clear water via an outlet tube (both supplied).
The outlet tube is fitted with a spray-bar to help increase oxygen aeration levels within your tank. These filter's are absolutely ideal for freeing-up space within your tank and provide a huge internal capacity for filter media, making them suitable for larger volume tanks.

Now supplied with a built-in 9w UV Bulb sterilizer, passing water is exposed to lethal doses of ultraviolet light - killing, sterilizing or otherwise irreparably damaging the majority of harmful micro-organisms. Fish tank water is pumped slowly past the UV light (sealed inside a quartz glass sleeve) which is designed to allow maximum UV exposure.

Each model is supplied with Ceramic Rings, Bio Balls, Activated Carbon and fine filter foam. By filtering your tank using the provided filter media you will observe a vastly improved level of waste-free water through extremely strong biological purification. The filter's easy-access layered filter media basket's make it simple to customise your media choices to suit your aquarium and fish livestock needs.

Maintaining the filter is very simple. The drip-free shut-off tap allows you to remove the filter and transport it away from your aquarium fish tank to an area more suitable for cleaning. Each filter media basket lifts smoothly out of the unit and can be easily rinsed through and returned to continue its operation.

slow flow rate

bought my 1000ef+thought it would be great for my 104Lt tankthe filter fitted together really well with good instructions both written and visualthe down side was the skimmer and the pipework with it is only good if you have a deep tankif you have like me an 18"deep tank you will need to do a bit of cutting and modifyingof the pipeworkalso the amount of filter material is very good but if you put all of it in the filter the flow rate is reduced considerably.so be selective with the amount you need for your own requirements .bit noisy to start with but after a few days and a bit of shaking to get the air out this is a very good filter.if you want a fast flow rate i would recommend going for the 1400 or the 2000 instead hope this helps

Amazing value, amazing product.

I purchased this filter to go in my 260 litre fish tank, set up was easy and a couple of months on my tank is crystal clear.I would be a little dubious of the 1000 litre per hour claim, but all manufacturers test with no media etc in the filters. The fact however this comes with all media and a uv sterelizer makes it fantastic value, it runs virtualy silently and does exactly what it is suposed to do. Highly reccomended and this is why I give it a 5 star rating.

Attractive Chair

This is an attractive and comfortable chair and pretty much is what it looks like in the photo. I bought the transparent version but d it actually has a distinct violet/grey hue in some lights so you may want to take that on board. Otherwise the service was very prompt and I've no complaints.

Impressively useful

Far better than a separate torque wrench. Small, light, and easy to carry round the world.I can use this with my ordinary socket set and tighten very precisely. There is the odd thing where there is no room to get it in, but that is the exception. Frankly, I'd rather have this, and hand-tighten those one or two than have another torque wrench.I wanted this lower range of settings with a half inch drive, but that is not available, so I need to use adaptors with this (I don't carry duplicate sockets in different drive styles).The display is a bit small, and I have to remind myself how to set it every time I want to use it, but it is straightforward enough after that. So far the batteries have not needed changing, but when they do that is easy enough.It comes in a silly childish blow-moulded box shaped like a treasure chest. I'd have preferred something cuboid so I could stack them, but it did not take much effort to make a wooden box myself.
