Hawke Nite Eye Digi SR12 6-24x50
By Shaggy
I had quite a few concerns about purchasing this scope as it was replacing a top quality Meopta scope.I was sceptical that the scope would perform well given it's relatively low price and high specifications.I needn't have worried, I purchased some BKL mounts (also a superb choice) and mounted the scope to my Anschutz rimfire and zeroed the scope. The optical quality is superb - equally as good as some of the more expensive scopes until you ramp the magnification up to the max but still fine even then. The feature I most like on this scope is the glass etched SR12 reticule which when used in conjunction with the Hawke BRC (a free download) takes the guess work out of hold over at ranges beyond your chosen zero range and it works !I zeroed at a modest 40yds and have confidently taken shots at 65 and 95yds, without the usual fingers crossed guess work, which makes hunting more humane. The reticule can also be illuminated at the touch of a button in either red or blue at various intensities, this feature is very clever but I personally found this a little less useful as once the light starts to fade an illuminated reticule is all well and good but it is not illuminating your target so I didn't find it as useful as it sounds although in fairness it is great when there is a dark background which makes the ordinary reticule a little harder to see clearly. The zoom ring works nice and smoothly an another particularly useful feature is having the paralax/focusing situated on the scope's saddle so it is mid-scope instead of having to stretch to the objective to adjust. All in all a great scope and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
