Xpelair GXC9 conforms to Building Regulations mechanical ventilation for kitchens. They are designed for easy cleaning and maintenance, are BEAB approved and are rated as Class 1 earthed appliance.

At last- one that was as easy as pie.

I recently purchased an Xpelair GXC9 Commercial window fan as a direct replacement for the 9 inch fan that I installed in my kitchen 25 years ago. I felt that the old one had given enough service and was only in need of being replaced because it had accumulated years of greasy muck inside. It had been cleaned quite often but the muck only went to show how effective it was. That original fan was also an Xpelair.Joy of joys, the new modern sparkling, shiny clean one was fitted within 20 minutes.Quite simply, the fitting hole was the same size, the mounting system was identical and easy as pie to understand. If one is fitted in a double glazing situation, a PVC board is necessary as it is impossible to cut a hole in two layers of glass. A simple chord-pull works the fan and if it is being fitted for the first time, an electrical supply is needed,(standard 3 core cable.) I hope this one is still working in 25 years like my last one.

Switch is plastic and breaks off regularly

This is the third of these fans in 10 years for me.The switch is a weak link and breaks off with annoying regularity. Good for the suppliers I guess...
