Not too big, not too small , just perfect !
By P. Antti
Buying a camerabag is always a bit of a hit and miss. I should know - I have purchased (&sold) several during my years as an amateur photographer. And no matter how closely you watch the manufacturer's videoclip on the net or read specifications and try to measure the dimensions in your head, in the end, when you fit your equipment into it (whilst trying several different layouts, of course) you find if it works for you or not. This one does what it promises, for me at least. Opening the flap with my right hand & taking the camera out without losing my eyecontact with the subject(s) is really easy. And just a gentle push with my hand holding the camera- The flap is closed with the velcro attachments. No zippers, no hassle. As I said, fits a micro 4/3 system perfectly (Oly PEN 2, 14-42, 40-150 & 17mm Pancake + eyefinder VF-2 + flash + spare batteries, charger + microfibre cloth, extra memorycards , passport , wallet & map, iPhone too...) Perfect for daytrips & holidays & street photography . And inconspicious too, does not look like a camerabag at all. I like it a lot. The cloth looks & feels great! The only "gripe" that I have is this: The VF-2 finder makes the camera a bit too wide for this bag ( or at least if you try to fit the body into the bag like I do). but considering the fact that this bag is a bit on the soft side I would not try to store the finder attached to the camera anyway. A hard bump might shear it off (probably not but just to be on the safe side).

Great for m43 kit
By Paul Laycock
I was looking for a shoulder bag to replace my Lowepro backpack. The Lowepro carried everything I needed, plus a little more in the top compartment. But every time I wanted to swap a lens, I had to stop and take the thing off. The Retrospective 5 on the other hand allows me swap lenses without stopping, allowing me to get the shot quicker and not annoy my partner in the process!I've managed to fit in a variety of lenses (20mm, 9-18mm, 14-140mm and 100-300mm) plus the camera body (Lumix GH2) for my trip to Hong Kong, as well as a variety of screw-on filters, memory cards and lens pen. It is a very well built bag, suitably sturdy. I've already given it a trial through some light urb-exing and it worked brilliantly.Highly recommended.

Well made, but too small for me
By Popeye
I was after a smaller bag than my ThinkTank Retrospective 20, just to take a Nikon D300 with lens attached and something like one or two additional lenses and/or some Lee filters. While I could get all of this in (and even more if I tried), I found the fit a bit tight to use as a working bag that I would be dipping in and out of rather than just using as a transport bag. With a smaller dSLR or mirrorless system, I think the size would be fine and the bag is very well-made. If you want to put a bigger dSLR away between shots, pull it out for the next set of shots and put it away again to carry around, you might find it's a bit of a struggle, in which case the Retrospective 7 may be more suitable as it's just that little bit bigger to allow a bit more 'wiggle room.'Because the bag is not all that big, you will probably find that the shoulder strap presses against your chest rather than standing away from it as might happen with a slightly wider bag. Whether this matters is a personal issue, but the strap is at least quite soft with no harsh edges. As a vegetarian, I went with the Retrospective partly because I thought it was free of any leather content. However, the small logo on the back and the zip tag on the rear are both leather (checked with ThinkTank). I returned the bag without any problem and replaced it with a Lowepro Exchange Messenger in black at a fraction of the cost, weighs virtually nothing and is just the ticket for the kit I was wanting to carry. If anything, despite being slightly larger than the ThinkTank, it is even less conspicuous, more slimline and easier to work from.
