Made with Nubuck and Suede leather upper, this waterproof upper is soft and comfy designed for super soft comfort making your walking epxerience more enjoyable. Abrasive resistant toe and heel cap and Bellow Tongue cover helps protect your feet against hard rock and debris from going into the shoe respectively. Not only that, Merrell's SplitTM Technology joins dual density EVA under the heel to absorb shock and discourage over-pronation, very useful technology to have on a walking boots, which helps decreased the chance of long term injury. Merrell air cushion, which located in the heel helps absorbs shock and adds stability, providing a smoother ride. The outsole is made from Vibram's amazing Refuge Sole/TC5+ Rubber, which is a highly durable and extremely sticky rubber which will ensure and provide you a great traction in wet weather conditions or walking on slippery rock.

Superb shoe from a quality manufacturer

I wanted a pair of walking boots that were durable enough to wear for serious hiking, yet also trendy enough to wear out. These boots give you both, as well as being very comfortable. I have been buying Merrell shoes for over 15 years and wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Top marks!!!

very small sizes

to be fair, i only tried this boot on when it arrived, it was too small, so i sent it back and bought some moabs instead. a helpful sales assistant in blacks told me that unless a shoe has a waterproof membrane such as goretex, the waterproofing is usually in the form of a coating that degrades easily.

Having had Merrill refuge pro goretex gtx walking shoes and found them wonderful in every respect,except being a low cut let stones and grit in. I bought these as a replacement.Maybe unlucky but on third walk where tested for being waterproof in long wet grass they failed miserably. Also stitching came apart on toe.Will buy refuge pro gtx goretex again and go back to wearing gaters with them.
