I think that this is an amazing product. The unit has been given some time to settle in (two weeks at the time of writing) and as predicted it out performs my weighty class A amp (90lbs). I am sure you have heard all the comments before, but I have used this amp in a very capable system. Do not be put off by the price, this unit is better in my opinion than amps costing many many of hundereds of pounds more - I know I have one. This amp is fed from a very high quality home built pre-amplifier using BB OPA627 op-amps for the power amp drive signal and thus opted not to have the volume control fitted to my unit. The main thing that I have noticed about this amp is the coherence of the harmonics, this gives the sound a more precise less smeared quality, giving the illusion of more air around the instruments and at the same time making them sound solid. Cymbals for instance have a convincing metallic sound making them more life like without sounding bright. The sound stage in music with a large crescendo does not collapse or become congested and it is easy to pick out individual musical instruments and their position. This was especially noticeable on a piece of music played on a street organ in a passage which has all instruments blazing (Intro to Phantom of the Opera). When played through this amp I could pick out the position of every pipe, drum and bell. Do I know what it should actually sound like? Yes I heard the instrument playing at a steam fair and brought the CD because I liked it so much. I mostly listen to jazz! The top end is very well controlled, giving greater accuracy and resolution to instruments. The bass has drive and energy thus improving the overall balance of the sound, adding another layer to the overall image. This amp manages to extract more detail out of the mix, than my class A.To sum up, with a larger sound stage that has greater resolution and a better dynamic range it makes the music more life like and enjoyable.Would I endorse this unit? - most definitely.
