The best wristwatch version of the Swiss Railway Clock?

Travellers in Switzerland had admired the Swiss Railway Clocks long before Mondaine introduced their range of other timepieces based upon the famous design. The watches had always looked good though the further they strayed from the simplicity of the clock design the poorer they looked. Days, dates, and chronograph facilities all serve to undermine the elegance and clarity so much loved by the purists (like me!). Also in all too many of the watches the chunkiness of the hands overwhelms the aesthetic appeal - but not in the case of the SIMPLY ELEGANT GENTS - A672.30350.16SBM! This watch is the perfect recreation of the design that we admire so much. It has always looked best against a white face and the chunky hands look just right on this large 41mm dial. The carefully engineered stainless steel mesh strap is both comfortable and beautiful though the watch also looks good with a black leather strap. It is water resistant to 30m and the mineral glass should survive most misfortunes. It is slim compared with many of the range and you pay a price premium for this - however getting on my wrist immediately made me forget that is cost nearly double my budget. It is amazingly comfortable and looks superb - and is good enough to wear for any occasion, dressing up or down with ease like any classic timepiece. I have bought it as my Christmas present but already it has been designated as a family heirloom. Don't try one on your wrist unless you are prepared to part with the money ...

I wanted a slim good looking watch. The Swiss railway design is a classic piece of art and Mondaine has it well realised in its watches. This is a big watch (although very slim) and to start with I thought it looked too big on my average sized wrist, however, I have got used to it and I like it. The chainmail metal strap is excellent; being neither plastic nor leather it doesn't get sweaty and is very comfortable to wear continuously. The watch did not keep good time so I returned it. Amzon's return service is amazingly good and they replaced it within 24 hours with absolutely no fuss at all. The replacement watch is accurate to around 1 second per day. So far so good; I have had the watch for a month so can't comment on long term performance.

A super, slim, smart product: very clear to read and light in weight.Only concern is sharp corners which WILL fray shirt cuffs eventually.
