High Expectations, Unreliable Outcome
By AndyHD
I purchased this hard disk expecting fast read and write times and was pleasanlty surprised how fast this disk was.Windows 7 loads in seconds and application launch times are virtually none existant connecting this drive to Sata 6gb ports H67 chipset. This was the good news, but now the bad news. There appears to be driver confliction issues with Intels latest (6 months old) RST software with this drive, resulting in lockups and crashes within Windows 7, and even completly dissapearing from the bios hd listings. Uninstalling RST only helps prolong the periods between lockups in Windows. The OCZ forums also lists many many other people with the same issue with people providing workarounds from enabling "Hot-Swap" for the drive in the bios (of which I dont have) to other assorted registry fixes for intels LPM that have had no affect for many inclduing myself. The latest firmware for this drive additionaly provides no positive results. If you go to google right now and enter "ocz vertex lockups" just look at the pages and pages of worrying results. This is my first OCZ drive but unfortunatly even though it is blazingly fast it is equally unreliable and I seriously just dont trust putting any of my valuable data on it.I gave this review 2 Stars simply because yes the drive is very fast and yes it could well have a firmware fix in the future that will make this drive more stable. But in its current state at the moment it is far from it.

Simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
By TechBajan
I replaced the stock hard drive in my Vostro V131 with this drive and am totally impressed. I used Acronis to image my hard drive and restored the image to this just so I not only could have everything back up and running in minutes but also so I can adequately compare boot times and system performance before and after. While the laptop was already fairly quick, this MAX IOPS improved speed phenominally. Boot times (with automatic services etc loaded) went from around 2.5 minutes to around 13 seconds! IE opens literally as soon as I click the icon, a characteristic IE (even 9) isn't known for. Firefox load times improved too but not as dramatically as IE. Outlook loads in a flash and file copying to the SSD just rips! Actually, I think the only bottleneck with file copying from another source is the read speeds from that source. It even boots much faster than an iPad 2 or the New iPad.The drive came with the latest firmware already so no flashing was required; I suspect why I haven't had any BSOD or other issues whatsoever! This SSD in a lightweight laptop makes a superbly winning combination and makes such a combination even more useful & practical than a tablet and cheaper than most Ultrabooks, which probably don't come with SSDs as fast as this anyway! So, all I have to say is: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
