You get what you pay for

I have owned a hatchbag boot liner and when it arrived I was a bit disappointed at the quality for the money, not to mention having to attach numerous velcro stickers to the inside of the boot. I looked at the boot buddy, but because of its rigid sides, it would leave a gap on either side. This, however, is in a different class. Heavy, sturdy material making it quite difficult to fold. It comes with a separate section to use when folding the boot flat, and a boot flap into which you insert a rod which hooks up into the luggage cover bracket, thereby protecting the carpeted inside of the boot lid. It is a little fiddly to install, but does the job so well, it's almost over-engineered for the task. It also comes in a nice carry case with the BMW logo - all in all, pricey, but probably worth it.
