Great!
By Zbigniew
For the first time in my long purchasing career I'm going to make my recommendation that simple: BUY IT! It's a fantastic piece of equipment.Excellent audio, surprisingly good video (with the digital zoom more than acceptable and good image stabilisation).I recorded educational videos for my online courses (files as small as possible, my main concern being good quality of sound)and the results were perfect. I took LS-20M to my son's wedding (the best possible quality of sound and picture needed, far from the altar, etc.)and the results were perfect. Btw. imagine the groom's father using a typical camcorder throughout the ceremony! In my case only one of the guests noticed that I was holding in my hand something that he took for a mobile phone. For such occasions position of the camera is the best possible.Just one advice: if you intend to do a lot of filming, buy an extra battery (you can get it from Amazon and it's not expensive), if you intend to film outside - buy or make a windshield.

Great sound
By super twin mummy
I bought this product to record live music and it does this very well!! Video quality is very impressive, however direction of lens makes it very tricky to line up with subject, much better with tripod. OK to video child, but very hard for someone the same height without very long tripod or taking video from below angled up to the face which is very unflattering.Video takes a lot of memory very quickly. Also does not play back in MP4 format but in .Mov which only works on computer using quicktime, not worked out a way to create a DVD or anything else that will play on our TV without the recording device plugged in, which is a shame as our computer has very poor speakers and sound recording is excellent.Does a great job of recording in MP3 format which is pretty universal.

Warm sound, wonderful clarity and surprisingly good video
By David Burton
Now, being used to ~£100 camcorders, I was hoping that this would be a suitable step up in quality. And I wasn't disappointed, as the sound quality (as tested at a music festival) is jaw-dropping. There where sound elements picked up by this that I don't recall hearing myself at the time. The only problem I had with this was when listening to the band recording, I kept turning round to see what my other half had asked, because I was hearing voices in the crowd as well. I got at least a few hours of audio recorded out of it on one charge, and found the controls reasonably sensible and the device comfortable to hold.My only issue is one of getting used to it - the microphones are more directional than I'm used to, so if you're moving around much you'll point it more or less directly at speakers, and the sound will go muddier. The auto-levelling also cannot cope with the major volume changes in such a setting, but this seems more a failing of me not setting up the device properly than of the device, as the manual does indicate this, and when there weren't the same volume changes the clarity was excellent. My only issue is that having heard this quality of recording I don't want the sound from my other cameras, and I'll need to work harder to get the best out of this. Oh, and the lack of being able to take quick photos - particularly recording sound - it would be good if the next version added that.On the video front things came out better - with good low-light performance, much less blurring on movement than cheaper cameras, and generally a very good picture quality. The position of the camera is a little odd but has its merits trying to get a view over a crowd, and the main issue is the lack of optical zoom, although the digital zoom works better than I would have expected. The image stabiliser works better than other ones I've tried.I'll probably use it more for audio with something else for video (due to the lack of zoom), but at a pinch it will do both and just for the audio alone it's excellent.
