5Excellent TV for the price
By Angel Silver
We have been using a 32" CRT-type TV up until now, waiting until the big changeover so that we get a TV that should not need further upgrade for a while. 4 channels were enough, as we do not spend every evening glued to the box, etc.The new TV: well, it was a lovely jump up to a 40" screen (not to mention the recovered space in the room when we ditched the TV enclosure). And lots of extra channels (plus radio), and a balance of News from other suppliers - not just what we are allowed to see/hear in the UK from BBC/ITV -- great! The picture is excellent/sharp in our opinion, though, as I say, we have been used to a CRT thingy (so anything would appear far better than that). The only thing I would say as a neg is that the clarity of sound is a bit muffled. I tried the alternative settings for sound, but these did not resolve it adequately. I find I have to increase the volume to get clarity of all the words in the programmes, even though I am not yet going deaf. The speakers are on the rear of the panel so this may be the reason, with the speaker output having to bounce off the wall and furnishings before arriving at the ear. I am considering remote speakers to overcome this issue (assume it allows for that). But that is the only critical I could give. There are 4 touch buttons on the RH side: on-off etc. Not the usual type of buttons -- you just rest your finger on them. There is also an ON/OFF switch at the back of the panel, in the middle, which is a bit silly if you have the unit tight on a wall bracket. Not a massive problem as you just switch it on and leave it on, using the touch button at the RH side. Just a bit silly. We did not change our aerial, just kept the existing one of ... well, 12-15yrs age (maybe a bit older too). I wanted to buy the accessories, one at a time in case not needed. When we first switched on, BBC channels were excellent but ITV etc were a rather poor picture. Ah, but that was only until ITV etc switched over to digital in our area, a week later (18 April 2012) and all channels were excellent. The integrated Freeview unit does a good job of making use of our old aerial. So, there is no need for us to upgrade the aerial, though some specialists might notice some slight quality improvement with the latest super-dooper aerial/dish.The USB socket allows us to connect a USB stick or bigger USB hard drive. There's 2x HDMI sockets for a DVD player etc, which is good enough for us. And there is a socket for laptop connection too.We got ours from ARGOS, a fiver cheaper, mainly as we wanted to grab it fast and see the next HomeLand episode. But £300-ish is a great price, I would say. We are very happy with the TV.

5Perfection for the price
By Jay667
Clear beautiful Picture, great sound although you do have to set up using the menu, but the menu is very easy to use.Greast fuctionality and lots of higher priced features on this very beautiful looking set.The down sides are the Thickness, although not that thick if you are looking for a Slimline this is not it is about 3 - 4 inches thick, so still not bad.A word of warning would be that coming on from off can take a min or two,and the 7 day guide looks a little hectic, butif you have used Sharp before then should not be a problem and if you have not you soon get used to it.My final thoughts would be if you want a good looking TV at a nice price point with the features of the more expensive models, this is a great TV I am very happy with it and the PS3 has never looked better.

Purchased online I was worried that I had been foolish, but my trust was well placed, and it was in original packaging.
